The Sport Explained

What Is All Star Cheerleading?

All Star cheerleading is a competitive team sport that combines stunting, tumbling, jumps, dance and performance into a choreographed routine.

Unlike the traditional image of cheerleaders supporting another sports team from the sidelines, All Star cheer athletes train specifically to compete in their own sport.

Teams work together to perform routines that can include tumbling skills, jumps, partner stunts, pyramids, transitions and dance sections. Athletes are placed into appropriate teams and divisions based on factors including age, ability and the needs of each team.

The result is a sport that combines athletic ability, teamwork, trust, performance and discipline — while giving every athlete an important role within their team.

Inside A Cheer Routine

What Do Cheerleaders Actually Do?

All Star cheer brings several different athletic skills together into one fast-paced routine.

01

Stunting

Athletes work together as bases, flyers and support positions to safely build and perform stunt sequences.

02

Tumbling

From foundational rolls and cartwheels through to more advanced skills as athletes progress through the sport.

03

Jumps

Technique, flexibility, timing and power come together in synchronised cheer jumps.

04

Dance

Routines include energetic dance choreography designed to showcase performance and musicality.

05

Performance

Athletes learn to perform confidently as a team while keeping technique, timing and energy consistent.

One Team

Every Athlete Has A Role

Cheerleading is built around teamwork. Athletes learn that the success of a routine depends on every member of the team doing their job.

That creates an environment where athletes develop communication, trust, responsibility and resilience alongside their physical skills.

For many athletes, the friendships and confidence they build through cheer become just as important as the skills they learn.
