Eligible divisions
Age bands
overlap.
An athlete can legitimately be age-eligible for several divisions at once. The final division a team enters depends on programme structure, level, event availability and the relevant rules — not age alone.
Age grids use the competition year.
For the 2026/27 season, eligibility is built around the athlete's birth year and their age during the 2027 competition year.
UK divisions can include extra age bands.
Domestic structures can include UK-specific divisions such as U10 and U14 alongside internationally aligned age groups.
International grids are different.
The IASF international age grid uses divisions such as U6, U8, U12, U16, U18 and Open, with additional requirements depending on division.
Not every competition offers everything.
A division appearing on an age grid does not mean every event producer must offer it. Always check the event's own division list.
