Technique often changes as athletes tire. Coaches need to recognise the point where useful conditioning ends and repeated poor-quality movement begins. Fatigue diagnosis helps distinguish a true technical weakness from a skill that only deteriorates under load.
Find the Point Quality Changes
Fatigue breakdown is the technical change that appears as the athlete's capacity falls.
The important question is not simply whether the athlete looks tired.
Identify which technical feature changes first: posture, timing, power, balance, height, landing control or attention.
That first breakdown shows the coach where endurance or strength development may need to focus.
What Changes First?
Height Drops
Jumps, tosses, tumbling rebounds or elevation progressively reduce.
Positions Soften
Knees bend, arms lose placement or body tension decreases.
Athlete Falls Behind
Connections, counts or group movements begin to arrive late.
Landings Deteriorate
Balance, stability and force absorption become less consistent.
